Wine Tour & Tasting
This wine tasting tour provides a comprehensive journey through the vineyard and winery. Weather permitting, the tour begins with a stroll through our stunning English vineyard, where you’ll learn about grape growing and vineyard management. Then step inside the winery to explore the winemaking process, including the grape-pressing area, fermentation tanks, barrel room, fizz room, and bottling line. At each stage, you’ll sample a different wine, with six wines in total, including white, rosé, red, and sparkling. Wine availability may vary seasonally.
Wine & Cheese Tour
For a slightly different experience, the Wine & Cheese Tour includes a guided vineyard and winery walkthrough, followed by a seated tasting of wines paired with exquisite English and Welsh cheeses from artisan cheesemongers. This curated experience highlights six wines in total, perfectly matched to the flavours of each cheese.
Both tours can be conducted in Spanish, French, or Italian for private bookings.
Extend Your Experience
After your vineyard tour, continue your journey in our welcoming Wine Bar & Cellar Shop, enjoying a glass or bottle of your favourite English wine, complemented by artisanal cheese and charcuterie boards. For variety, we also offer local craft beers, ciders, cocktails, non-alcoholic drinks, mocktails, hot beverages, and traditional cream teas.
On sunny days, soak up the atmosphere in our picturesque garden, surrounded by roses and overlooking the winery. On cooler days, relax inside at our charming refurbished oak barrel tables.
For an even more luxurious experience, extend your stay in our onsite boutique accommodation. What happens if it rains?
Our tours run whatever the weather. As the majority of the tour is inside the winery, the weather doesn’t really matter. However, if it is heavily raining this may prohibit a visit to see some of the vines.
What should I wear?
You don’t need any special clothing, just sensible shoes and comfortable clothes, and a waterproof jacket and/or umbrella if it could rain. On a Wine Tour & Tasting you will be walking for almost 2 hours, so high heels might not be a good idea!
Our winery is kept at a cool temperature so short sleeves are fine for a summer’s day visit but in the evenings and in winter you might need to wrap up warm!
How much wine is included?
You will typically taste 6 generous samples of wine on a tour, so we strongly recommend to book a taxi or arrange a lift after your tour.
You’re most welcome to leave your car overnight, but you will need to provide your contact details at check-in.
No discount is offered to guests choosing not to taste the wines. One non-alcoholic drink will be offered instead.
Is food included?
Food is not included in Wine Tours & Tastings. Crisps, olives, and other snacks and nibbles are available for purchase in the shop, before the tour starts, together with coffee and tea.
An individual platter of cheese is included in a Wine & Cheese Tour. We can cater for dairy-free diets.
At our Wine Bar, we offer cheese & charcuterie boards, as well as a large range of nibbles and picnics. We have plenty of options for vegans, diary-free and gluten-free guests.
Food is ordered directly at the Wine Bar and cannot be pre-ordered.
You’re most welcome to visit us for lunch before your tour. To book a table, please email tours@stanlakepark.com
Is there a car park?
Yes, we have a large, free car park in front of the Wine Bar & Shop. Car park can get busy on wedding days.
You’re most welcome to leave your car overnight and collect the morning after, but you will need to provide your contact details to our staff. Please ask the team at the Wine Bar.
Can you accommodate disabled guests?
Yes, we can tweak the itinerary to make it 100% step-free. We can also add chairs at each stop for those guests less able to stand.
Please do contact us in advance so we can arrange accordingly to tours@stanlakepark.com
Can we arrive by train or walk to the vineyard?
Yes, you can and you’re encourage to do so! We are just 15 minutes walking on pavements from Twyford train station, which connects to Reading (7 min) and London Paddington (30 min) via the Great Western Railway and the Elizabeth Line.
It’s also a 3-minutes ride in taxi from the train station.
Are children allowed?
I’m afraid all our tours and tastings are exclusive for over 18s. This includes toddlers and babies.
Children are most welcome to our Wine Bar & Shop, but can’t join any of the guided experiences and tastings.
Are pets allowed?
Pets are not allowed on our tours, except service animals.
Well-behaved dogs on a lead are welcome in the Wine Bar & Shop, but not inside the winery where the tours are held.
Can we arrange a private tour?
Yes, of course! We offer private tours for groups of a minimum of 10 guests, and we can accommodate large groups. Check out our Private & Corporate offer, or contact tours@stanlakepark.com for more information.
Do you offer tours in foreign languages?
Yes, private tours (min 10 guests) can be offered in French, Italian or Spanish, subject to our tour guides availability.
Can we explore the vineyards freely? Can we have a picnic in the vineyard?
Unfortunately, no. Some of our vineyards are of exclusive use of our wedding guests, others are reachable only through private residences or located in our farm land where livestock is kept, so for various reasons we can’t allow customers to wander around the estate.
You can’t have a picnic in the vineyards, but you’re most welcome to do so in our Wine Bar Garden, surrounded by roses and overlooking the 17th Century winery barn.
Cancellation Policy
Should it be necessary to cancel or change your booking we require a minimum of 7 days notice – less than 7 days will incur a rebooking fee of £10. No shows are not entitled to a refund or rescheduling.
