Wine & Tours Tastings
Learn about wine while having fun
Our wine tours are designed to be friendly, informal and fun! No prior knowledge is required as one of our experienced and WSET-trained guides will lead you through the ups and downs of English viticulture and winemaking, accompanied by some generous samples of our very best award-winning wines.
During a Wine Tour & Tasting, you’ll visit one of our vineyards (weather permitting) before being taken through the winery to see all the winemaking process, including the grape-pressing area, the fermentation tanks, the barrel room, the ‘fizz’ room and the bottling line. At each stop, you will taste 6 wines including white, rosé, red and sparkling. Wine availability may change during the year.
If you choose to join one of our Wine & Cheese Tours, the visit will be slightly shorter, but will end with a sit-in tasting of wines together with a selection of delicious English cheese. You will still taste 6 wines in total.
In both cases, the tour will end in our Wine Bar & Cellar Shop where your experience can continue!
In our Wine Bar you can enjoy any of our wines by the glass or bottle, together with some delicious cheese and charcuterie boards. Tired of tasting wine? Not a problem. We stock a large number of local craft beer, cider and cocktails, as well as many non-alcoholic options, including mocktails, hot drinks and cream teas.
If the weather is good you can sit outside in our lovely garden surrounded by roses and overlooking the winery. Otherwise, you’re welcome to sit inside at one of our refurbished oak barrel tables.
Our tours last for approximately 1.5-2 hours – you may wish to book a taxi home! If you are organising a lift or booking a taxi, we recommend you ask them to give you plenty of time so that you are not rushed at the end of the tour.
Please see our Frequently Asked Questions for further details.
Unfortunately, due to insurance constrains, under 18’s are not allowed on tours and tastings; this includes babies and toddlers. No pets either, please (except service dogs).

What happens if it rains?
Our tours run whatever the weather. As the majority of the tour is inside the winery, the weather doesn’t really matter. However, if it is heavily raining this may prohibit a visit to see some of the vines.
What should I wear?
You don’t need any special clothing, just sensible shoes and comfortable clothes, and a waterproof jacket and/or umbrella if it could rain. On a Wine Tour & Tasting you will be walking for almost 2 hours, so high heels might not be a good idea!
Our winery is kept at a cool temperature so short sleeves are fine for a summer’s day visit but in the evenings and in winter you might need to wrap up warm!
How much wine is included?
You will typically taste 6 generous samples of wine on a tour, so we strongly recommend to book a taxi or arrange a lift after your tour.
You’re most welcome to leave your car overnight, but you will need to provide your contact details at check-in.
No discount is offered to guests choosing not to taste the wines. One non-alcoholic drink will be offered instead.
Is food included?
Food is not included in Wine Tours & Tastings. Crisps, nuts and many other nibbles are available for purchase in the shop, before the tour starts.
An individual platter of British cheese, crackers and chutney is included in a Wine & Cheese Tour.
At our Wine Bar, we offer cheese & charcuterie boards, as well as a large range of nibbles and picnics. Plenty of options for vegans, diary-free and gluten-free guests.
Food is ordered directly at the Wine Bar and cannot be pre-ordered.
You’re most welcome to visit us for lunch before your tour. To book a table, please email tours@stanlakepark.com
Is there a car park?
Yes, we have a large, free car park in front of the Wine Bar & Shop. Parking might be tricky on days where we have big weddings.
You’re most welcome to leave your car overnight and collect the morning after, but you will need to provide your contact details to our staff.
Can you accommodate disable guests?
Yes, we can tweak the itinerary to make it 100% step-free. We can also add chairs at each stop for those guests less able to stand.
Please do contact us in advance so we can arrange accordingly to tours@stanlakepark.com
Can we arrive by train or walk to the vineyard?
Yes, you can and you’re encourage to do so! We are just 15 minutes walking on pavements from Twyford train station, which connects to Reading (7 min) and London Paddington (30 min) via the Great Western Railway and the Elizabeth Line.
It’s also a 3-minutes ride in taxi from the train station.
Are children allowed?
I’m afraid all our tours and tastings are exclusive for over 18s, due to insurance reasons. This includes toddlers and babies.
Children are most welcome to our Wine Bar & Shop, but can’t join any of the guided experiences and tastings.
Are pets allowed?
Pets are not allowed on our tours, except service animals.
Well-behaved dogs on a lead are welcome in the Wine Bar & Shop, but not inside the winery where the tours are held.
Can we arrange a private tour?
Yes, of course! We offer private tours for groups of a minimum of 10 guests, and we can accommodate large groups. Check out our Private & Corporate offer, or contact tours@stanlakepark.com for more information.
Do you offer tours in foreign languages?
Yes, private tours (min 10 guests) can be offered in French, Italian or Spanish, subject to our tour guides availability.
Can we explore the vineyards freely? Can we have a picnic in the vineyard?
Unfortunately, no. Some of our vineyards are of exclusive use of our wedding guests, others are reachable only through private residences or located in our farm land where livestock is kept, so for various reasons we can’t allow customers to wander around the estate.
You can’t have a picnic in the vineyards, but you’re most welcome to do so in our Wine Bar Garden, surrounded by roses and overlooking the 17th Century winery barn.
Cancellation Policy
Should it be necessary to cancel or change your booking we require a minimum of 7 days notice – less than 7 days will incur a rebooking fee of £10. No shows are not entitled to a refund or rescheduling.
