Remember when you said you’d make more time for the good stuff? The days out, the weekends away, the plans that always seem to get pushed back?

Life has a habit of filling every spare space in the diary. Before you know it, another season has passed and that trip you meant to book is still just an idea.

Because when you’re away from home, there are hotels. There are Airbnbs. And then there’s waking up in the middle of a working vineyard, coffee in hand, vines stretching out in every direction, while the estate slowly comes to life around you.

A stay at Stanlake Park isn’t just somewhere to sleep. It’s an experience you’ll be talking about long after you’ve gone home.

Here at Stanlake Park Wine Estate, we’ve got three options for stays to suit all needs, depending on your plans and how many people you’re bringing along.

NORTH LODGE

Our North Lodge is the perfect romantic vineyard getaway for two. A cosy, private escape that’s tucked away down in the corner of our estate. Open your bedroom curtains and you see our Stallion vineyard right at your door. The greenery, the trees, the birds, the peace. Step out the door and a short walk away is our vibrant and fun Wine Bar. Whether it’s popping in early for a coffee before a day out, stepping in for a sourdough toastie lunch in the garden or relaxing after a full day with a few glasses and a cheese board, the Wine Bar is the perfect on site bolthole.

As well as wine tours here, Berkshire and the surrounding areas offer endless opportunities for great days out, whatever it is you’re looking for.

The North Lodge

SOUTH LODGE

Over on the opposite side of the estate is the South Lodge, which has 4 beautiful rooms, 5 beds, sleeping 8 people. A large open plan kitchen and big dining table with views over green fields is one of our favourite features of this property. It’s a really great hang out space for games nights, or big family dinners. truly one of those “I can’t believe we’re staying here!” properties.

If you’re coming with the gang, we’re a short walk from Twyford train station so not only are we easy to get to, we’re easy to go and explore from as well.

There’s also a large lounge with comfortable seating and again, fantastic views.

THE OLD SCHOOL HOUSE

With plenty of activities on the upcoming calendar, like Henley Regatta, you may decide you’d rather be closer to the action with a stay in beautiful Henley-on-Thames. Our period cottage, nestled in an area of outstanding beauty, sleeping up to 9 guests is the perfect option for you and your travelling party. A free transfer to Stanlake Park is included so you don’t miss out on the vineyard experience and a wine tour.

Whichever venue you choose, or is right for you, the idea is the same. This isn’t a place you just sleep. It’s somewhere you live for a few days.

The Old School House

Not just a stay, a full vineyard experience

Staying here means you’re not visiting a vineyard. You’re part of it. It’s there on your doorstep. Name somewhere else you can stay where you can see a vineyard out your bedroom window that’s within a short walk of a tube stop!

Photography enthusiasts will be delighted with their surroundings as there’s always something to capture. Be it the Red Kites swooping overheard, the myriad other birds such as Eurasian Jays and Pheasants, or the Muntjacs, sheep and other wildlife we have here on site. Not to forget the views, and the vineyards themselves of course.

Whilst you’re here, you can join a wine tour and see exactly how it all comes together, from grape to bottle, just metres from where you’re staying. Each tour includes six different wines to try, as well as a guided look round of the vineyards, winery, bottling room and more.

After all that, there’s our popular Wine bar. Glass in hand. Cheese and charcuterie on the table. Perfect.

Almost everything* we produce is grown, made, and bottled right here. We also stock out wine bar with beers, cheeses, spirits and other artisanal products from a multitude of other independent local suppliers. Visiting us is a true Berkshire Holiday experience!

* we also have our Italian Collection – 3 wines made using grapes on our winemakers family vineyard in Puglia, Italy.

Make a weekend of it

Of course, as much as you could happily stay put, and many do, there’s plenty nearby if you want to explore. Read our recent blog on Reading & Berkshire to see just how much is going on.

Head over to Henley-on-Thames for riverside walks, great food, and a bit of that classic summer energy. It’s ideal if you’re staying at The Old School House, but just as easy to reach from the estate.

We’re near to Ascot Racecourse, Windsor Castle and Windsor Great Park. For families, there’s also places like Legoland, Beale Park and The Living Rainforest.

A 5-minute train into Reading opens up a world of things to see, such as Reading Abbey Ruins, the river Thames, the Oracle Shopping Centre or our very own full Bayeux Tapestry! You’ll never go hungry in Reading, there’s an absolute tonne of places to eat, whether it’s recognisable chains or independent locals, there’s something for everyone.

Or do nothing at all. Just sit, relax, open another bottle. Honestly, that’s be the best option, right?

Easy to get to, hard to leave

One of the things people love most and often don’t expect is just how easy it is to get here. Whether you’re driving or getting the train, we’re not hidden away somewhere, we’re right in amongst it, and yes, in case I haven’t mentioned it yet, we’re on the train line.

We’re just outside Reading, around 30 minutes from London, and on an Elizabeth Line stop. You can step off a train and be on the estate in minutes.

I will talk frankly now. This is a place I come to every day for work. And yet, it never feels like work. Every time my car pulls in, or I walk up up the drive (I often get the train because it’s so easy!) I just quietly smile to myself. Straight away, on your left you see the Stallion Vineyard and even after all this time, it still gets me. Most days, I leave my desk just to have a quiet walk around the site. I’m very lucky to be part of Stanlake Park, and it’s a little slice of peaceful solitude I’d love to share with you.

I see that same joy reflected in the reviews that we have. People are always surprised to see such a beautiful setting, seemingly hidden away and yet so easy to get to.

Vineyards don’t sit still. Whilst our tours are year round, and excellent whatever time of year, as we all know in England, summer is only here for a moment. Everything in full bloom, vibrant green vines and blue skies. Long evenings and that perfect balance of energy and calm. For a perfect summer stay, the vineyard is your option.

Come for a day trip, come for a night, stay for a few days. Bring friends, bring family or come alone or with a partner. Plan everything, or plan nothing.
